Insanity Workout

Working out at home has some real benefits. There are no gym memberships to be paid and you can use a variety of programs to suit your needs and timing you have available. The program you choose should also help you achieve the goals you’ve set out for yourself.

The Insanity workout program is a special program that you can do at home, in the privacy you are looking for and help you achieve goals you may have thought were well out of your reach. The Insanity workout is put out by Beachbody and includes 10 different DVDs.

The concept behind the program is to do short bursts of intense exercise that will burn calories quickly and build muscle fast.

The most recent research is also pointing the benefits of interval training as opposed to long bouts of cardiovascular work. The longer sessions of cardiovascular work may have long-term negatives effects on your heart muscle, while shorter bouts of interval training with short periods of recovery can build muscle faster and keep your calorie burning engine running all day.

In the Insanity workout, designed by Shaun T, you are performing longer bursts of intense workouts with shorter periods of recovery. This reportedly keeps your body working at maximum capacity, building muscles and burning calories in the shortest amount of time possible.

In order to use this program you must be motivated to get into the best shape of your life and be willing to work through the pain of exhausted muscles. Shaun T is on each of the DVDs to help motivate you when your energy is low, but you must WANT to put that DVD in the machine each day and get started.

Participating in this program will have you dripping with sweat in just minutes, so stay very hydrated – both before and during the program. Any small percentage of dehydration will negatively impact your ability to complete that days program and will have you feeling more drained than usual.

The program mixes cardiovascular work with plymetrics and pilates. One of the benefits is that you don’t need extra equipment to perform the exercises, just space in your home where you don’t mind sweating (a lot!) and a tv and DVD player.

Be careful if you already have knee or feet problems because with this program you’ll be using them frequently and hard. If you suffer from any form of arthritis this probably isn’t the program for you. And, if you are doing it to lose weight you’ll also have to watch the calories you eat and your diet. Twinkies, soda and beer won’t result in the weight loss you want. Nor will it fuel muscle development!
